Many students travel to school by bus or train. The electric train line stops opposite the school. The school community is drawn from both residential and rural residential areas and is representative of all socio-economic groupings. The majority of year 6 students proceed to Rosewood State High School with the remainder attending private and state high schools in Ipswich.

The parent community is supportive of the school and its programs, which must cater for the wide variety of interests and abilities of students. The school enjoys close links with the local community, participating in many of its activities.
