Every Day Counts!

At Rosewood State School, we believe that coming to school every day is important because learning builds step by step. Each lesson helps students grow their skills, confidence, and friendships. When students miss a day, they can miss important learning, fun activities, and valuable time with their classmates.

We understand that sometimes students need to stay home because they are sick — and that's okay. Health always comes first. However, when students are well, attending school every day helps them stay on track and reach their learning goals.

We believe every student should attend school every day throughout the year. Research clearly shows that students who attend regularly achieve much stronger results over the long term. Parents and guardians can actively support the school by ensuring their children attend every day. When families work towards the school's aim of 93% or greater attendance, it strengthens the learning partnership between home and school and supports every child's success

Every minute, every day matters!

Important things to know

Attendance Expectations of Children and Parents at Rosewood State School:

  • At Rosewood we track student attendance using IDAttend
  • If coming to school late, students sign in at Administration Building. Student or parent/carer should present a note/email/phone/SMS explaining lateness. Persistent lateness (3 or more per term) will lead to contact with home.
  • Student's who need to depart early must leave through the Administration Building after approvals have been given by parents/ guardians and sighted and approved by school administration.
  • Parents/guardians provide a note or phone call prior to any planned early departure (when possible) from school and remind their children that they still must report to Administration Building before their departure.
  • Parents/guardians inform the school of all absences as soon as possible (preferably on the day of the absence), by note, email, SMS or phone call. An SMS message will be sent by to school if your child is absent.
  • Parents/guardians give forewarning of known future absences, in particular long-term absences.
  • Long term absences (greater than 10 days) an exemption/permission needs to be sought by the Principal. (Documentation needs to be signed by parents and Principal)
  • High absenteeism will result in a formal letter from the school and a meeting may be requested.
