At Rosewood State School, leadership is about service, responsibility and pride in our community. Our student leaders are trusted representatives of our school and are looked to as role models by their peers. Whether they are speaking at parade, welcoming special guests or supporting younger students in the playground, our leaders consistently model what it means to be part of the Rosewood community.
Student leaders are expected to live our school values every day —
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Bring Your Best
Kindness is the Rosewood Way
They demonstrate these values through their behaviour, their attitude to learning and the way they treat others. We expect our leaders to maintain high attendance, arrive at school on time, wear the full school uniform with pride and uphold the Student Code of Conduct both at school and when representing Rosewood in the wider community.
At Rosewood State School, we view leadership is a public role, and students may be called upon at official or special occasions (at the discretion of the Principal) to represent our school with confidence and integrity.
2026 Leadership Positions
Each year, students are elected to leadership roles that allow them to contribute in different ways across the school.
School Captains (2 positions – selected on merit)
Our School Captains work closely with the school administration to represent Rosewood positively within the broader community. They assist in coordinating parades and special events, support lunchtime activities and act as a link between students and staff by sharing ideas, concerns and feedback. School Captains also welcome and greet community guests, proudly showcasing our school.
House Captains
- 2 positions for Brigalow
- 2 positions for Currajong
House Captains play a key role in building school spirit. They support the organisation of Athletics and Swimming Carnivals alongside the HPE teacher, assist with training sessions and lead their house with enthusiasm — especially when it's time for the war cry! They encourage participation, pride and good sportsmanship, and provide updates on Interschool Sports results at fortnightly parades.
Student Leaders
Student Leaders support a wide range of school events and initiatives. From leading parades and delivering the Acknowledgement of Country, to preparing Monday morning messages and assisting with special events such as ANZAC services, NAIDOC Week, Book Week, Under 8s Day and Breakfast Club, they play an important role in shaping our school culture.
They also promote environmental initiatives such as recycling and composting, support fundraising activities and attend regular leadership and student council meetings. Throughout the year, they may also represent the school at leadership conferences.
Growing Future Leaders
Leadership at Rosewood State School is about more than wearing a badge — it is about making a difference. Our leaders develop confidence, teamwork, communication skills and a strong sense of responsibility. Most importantly, they help create a school where everyone feels valued and supported.
At Rosewood, leadership means leading with kindness — because Kindness is the Rosewood Way.

Congratulations to all students who put themselves forward and embraced the challenge of the leadership process. We are incredibly proud of the courage, effort and determination you demonstrated at every stage. Your willingness to step up and contribute to our school community truly reflects the spirit of Rosewood.
We encourage all of our Year 6 students to continue striving to lead, regardless of the outcome. Leadership is not defined by a badge — it is shown through everyday actions, positive choices and the way you treat others. Great leaders don't give up; they keep learning, growing and setting a positive example for those around them.
